Danya is a Maldivian abstract artist who seeks to colour the daily minutia of everyday life. With mixed media and unconventional techniques such as impasto, sgraffito and block printing, Danya raises important questions – what is art anyway? And how can one draw inspiration from the unseen, the unheard and even from the unthought? An interior designer by profession, Danya completed her BA (Hons) in Interior design at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore in 2022. Many of her university projects, reflect the fragility of her small island home. Intuitively, she sought to utilise interior design to create spaces that are environmentally sound and sustainable. Essentially, honouring the culture, traditions and the Maldivian walk of life, she strives to create art that has a voice in the climate change conversation.
